✂️ What is cropping?
Cropping shrinks the visible area of the page (CropBox) to remove white margins, hole-punch marks or skewed scan borders. The page count stays the same — great for fitting a print size or reading on a small e-reader.
💡 Quick tips
- • Click "Auto-trim white margins" to let the tool detect content edges
- • Drag the 4 orange corner handles to fine-tune the frame
- • For absolute precision, type the mm values into the fields on the right
- • The cropped-away parts stay in the file, only hidden from the visible area
🔒 Absolute privacy
The entire process runs with JavaScript on your device. Files are never uploaded to any server, suitable for contracts, records or personal documents.
Crop PDF Pages Online
This crop PDF tool trims the unwanted margins off PDF pages: overly wide white borders, punch holes, skewed scan edges, or the empty sides that waste space on a small e-reader. Drag a selection box straight onto the page preview, or type exact margins in millimetres for all four sides.
Two different jobs worth separating: cropping shrinks the visible area of a page, so the page count stays the same — it is not the same as splitting or deleting pages. The cropped-away part stays inside the file, it is just hidden from view. Everything runs inside your browser with no upload.
How to crop a PDF
- Drag or choose the PDF you want to crop.
- Drag a box over the page preview to choose the area to keep, or adjust it with the four orange corner handles.
- For exact work, type millimetre values into the top, bottom, left and right margin boxes.
- Choose the scope: this page only, all pages, or a range such as
1-3, 5, 8-10. - Click save to download
-da-cat-cup.pdf.
Key features
- Auto white-margin detection: the tool reads the page pixels to find the real content edges and leaves a 1.5 mm breathing space.
- Drag the box with a mouse or finger, with four corner handles for fine tuning.
- The millimetre inputs and the drag box stay in sync with each other.
- Live readout of the kept area and the original page size in millimetres.
- Page navigation so you can crop page by page, or apply one crop to the whole document.
- A minimum size guard so you never end up with a page that has almost nothing left.
FAQ
How is cropping different from splitting pages? Cropping shrinks the visible area of each page and leaves the page count unchanged. Splitting or deleting removes whole pages from the document. If you only want pages 1 to 3, that is a job for the extract pages tool.
Is the cropped-away part removed from the file? No. The tool resets the visible box of the page, so the trimmed content is still inside the file, just no longer displayed. Worth knowing if there is sensitive information in the margin.
How does the auto margin detection work? It scans the pixels of the current page, finds where content starts and ends, and fits the box around that with 1.5 mm to spare. A completely blank page reports that no content edge could be found.
Does cropping reduce quality? No. Only the visible box is rewritten; content is never redrawn, so text stays selectable and searchable and images keep their resolution.
What about documents with different page sizes? The millimetre values are read in the orientation you see and applied to each page using its own dimensions. Pages where the crop would be too small are skipped and reported.
Is my file uploaded anywhere? No. Everything runs in JavaScript in your browser, which suits contracts and personal paperwork.
