Vietnam Postal Code Lookup

Find the postal code (zip code) of a ward, commune or province on the official national source. Codes were revised after the 2025 merger into 34 provinces, so use only the official lookup.

The national postal code was revised by Decision 2334/QĐ-BKHCN (24 Aug 2025) after Vietnam merged into 34 provinces and cities. Because of this, many third-party code tables online are now out of date or wrong. We deliberately do not republish a code table here — we send you to the official source so you always get the current, correct code.

Type the place name, then open the official lookup and search it there.

The button copies the place name and opens mabuuchinh.vn in a new tab. Paste the name there to see the exact postal code.

The postal operator VNPost also provides a code search by province and ward.

Beware of outdated code tables

After the 2025 merger, many blog and shop pages still show old province codes or copy each other with conflicting numbers. Filling in the wrong code can cause failed deliveries or rejected forms. Always confirm on mabuuchinh.vn before you use a code.

How to look up a postal code

  1. Type the ward, commune or province name in the box above and copy it.
  2. Open mabuuchinh.vn with the button (opens in a new tab).
  3. Paste or type the name in the search box on that site.
  4. Pick your exact ward/commune from the results — the 5-digit code is shown next to it.
  5. Use that full 5-digit code for shipping labels, online forms and address fields.

What is a postal code?

A postal code (zip code, "mã bưu chính") is a number that identifies a delivery area. Vietnam uses it on parcels, e-commerce forms and official documents so mail reaches the right ward or commune.

5-digit structure

Since 2018 the code has 5 digits. The first two identify the province or central city (Hà Nội starts with 10, Hồ Chí Minh City with 70); the remaining digits narrow it down to the ward or commune.

Changes after the merger

The 2025 merger into 34 provinces and Decision 2334/QĐ-BKHCN revised ward-level codes. If an old address changed ward, its code likely changed too — check the official source again.

FAQ

Why don't you show the postal code table directly? Codes were revised after the 2025 merger (Decision 2334/QĐ-BKHCN) and many online tables now conflict with each other. A wrong code is worse than none, so we link the official mabuuchinh.vn instead of republishing numbers we cannot verify.

Is looking up a postal code free? Yes. Both mabuuchinh.vn and postcode.vnpost.vn are free and official. Never pay a "lookup fee".

Do I need the postal code to send a parcel? It is not always required, but it speeds up sorting and reduces delivery errors, and many e-commerce and customs forms ask for it.

My ward was merged — did my code change? Possibly. If the ward or commune name changed, look the new name up again on the official site to get the current code.

Is the postal code the same as the area (phone) code? No. The postal code (5 digits) is for mail; the area code is for landline phone numbers. They are unrelated.
