PDF to Word
Pull all the text content out of a PDF into a Word file (.docx) so you can edit it again — keeping paragraphs, headings and page breaks.
🔒 Files are never uploaded to any server — everything runs right in your browser.

Read before converting: the tool extracts TEXT, it does not copy the layout
The browser can read the text layer already inside the PDF, so the tool extracts the text content and rebuilds it into a Word file. The result keeps paragraphs, page breaks and basic headings. But you should be clear that:
- • It does NOT preserve 100% of the layout. Tables, images, newspaper columns, headers/footers and the original fonts will not be kept.
- • Tables come out as loose lines of text; you will have to redraw the table in Word.
- • A scanned PDF (a photo of documents) will NOT produce text because there is no text layer inside — that case needs OCR (recognizing text from an image).
Need the layout kept exactly (a contract with tables, a document with complex formatting)? Use the paid Adobe Acrobat or Microsoft Office — no free browser tool can do that.

This file has almost no text to extract — most likely a scan
We could only read very few characters on each page. A common cause: the PDF was created by photographing/scanning documents, so each page is really an image and has no text layer inside to read out.
To get text from this kind of file you need OCR (recognizing text from an image): use the PDF to image tool to get an image of each page, then feed the images into Image to text (OCR).

✅ When does it give good results?
PDFs exported from Word, Excel, Google Docs or printed to PDF — these already have a text layer, so extraction gets almost 100% of the content. The more purely textual the document (reports, contracts, theses, textbooks), the cleaner the result.
⚠️ When does it NOT work?
A scanned/photographed document will produce an empty Word file because there is no text layer — you must OCR it first. Documents with many tables, newspaper columns, charts still get the text, but the layout will be scrambled and you will need to rearrange it by hand.
🔒 Absolute privacy
Reading the PDF and building the .docx both run with JavaScript right in the browser. Files are never uploaded to any server and stored nowhere — close the tab and everything is gone. Contracts and personal records are safe to process.
Tips for cleaner PDF to Word results
- • Quickly check whether the file has text: open the PDF and try to select a line. If you can select it, there is a text layer — this tool can convert it. If you cannot, it is a scan and needs OCR.
- • Only need a few pages? Enter a page range (e.g. 1-3, 7) to convert faster and get a smaller Word file.
- • Messy formatting after opening in Word? Try turning off “Merge lines into paragraphs” to keep each line exactly as in the PDF, then fix it yourself.
- • Just need the content to paste elsewhere? Use the .txt download — lightweight, no font issues, pastes anywhere.
- • Documents with important tables: accept that you will redraw the table in Word, or use a paid conversion program if there are too many tables.
PDF to Word Converter Online
This PDF to Word converter extracts the text from your PDF and writes a .docx file that opens in Microsoft Word, WPS Office and Google Docs — free and unlimited.
The key difference: your file never leaves your device. Everything runs in JavaScript inside the browser, so there is no upload step and no copy of your document on any server. The trade-off is that it preserves text and paragraph structure rather than reproducing tables, images and exact layout.

FAQ
Does it keep the original formatting? It keeps text, paragraph breaks and page breaks, but not tables, images, multi-column layouts or original fonts. For a pixel-faithful conversion you need paid software such as Adobe Acrobat.
Why did my PDF produce no text? It is most likely a scanned or image-only PDF with no text layer. Those need OCR rather than a normal converter.
Is my file uploaded anywhere? No. Reading the PDF and building the Word file both happen in your browser. You can disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded and it still works.
Is there a file size limit? No hard limit, but very large documents are slow because everything runs in browser memory. Convert a page range at a time for big files.
